THE HEX
Completed: Spring 2021
Project: Graphic Design Office
Size: 2,300 sq. ft.Â
Programs Used: Revit, Enscape, Photoshop
This graphic design studio, called the HEX, brings in warm colors influenced by Tyler the Creator’s album titled Flower Boy, to make the space feel inviting and comfortable. The hexagonal shape is used throughout the space to tie in both the name of the studio and the honeycomb idea drawn from the bees on the album cover. Many soft textures and interesting patterns are used to contrast the sharper angles in the office. Prioritizing the light and views for the group work and community areas helps ensure that everyone has access to the sunlight during their work day.
ALBUM INSPIRATION
The album cover that was used as the inspiration for this project was "Flower Boy" by Tyler, the Creator.
MEANING OF THE NAME
The album cover that was used for inspiration for this project has bees on it. Going along with that, honeycomb is a mass of hexagonal cells. On the graphic design side of things a hex code is a 6 digit number and letter combination that describe color. Pulling information from both the music and graphic design portions of the project, the HEX seemed to be the perfect name for the space.
